Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about IMEXLOG Trade Tools.
What are IMEXLOG Trade Tools?▾
IMEXLOG Trade Tools are a free suite of calculators and guides built specifically for international trade and logistics. They help importers, exporters, freight forwarders, suppliers, and buyers plan cargo, calculate costs, understand compliance, and price products accurately — before committing to a transaction.
Are the trade tools free to use?▾
Yes. All IMEXLOG Trade Tools are completely free to use, with no sign-up required for the calculators. Some advanced features and integrations are available to IMEXLOG members.
What is a CBM Calculator and when do I need it?▾
A CBM (Cubic Meter) Calculator determines the total volume of your cargo. It is used for sea freight pricing (LCL shipments), container utilization planning, and cargo documentation. Any time you are shipping goods by volume rather than weight, you need CBM.
How is a landed cost calculated?▾
Landed cost is the total cost of a product once it has arrived at your destination — including the purchase price, freight, insurance, customs duties, taxes, customs brokerage, and inland transportation. IMEXLOG's Landed Cost Calculator combines all these into one figure so you can price accurately.
What is the difference between volumetric and chargeable weight?▾
Volumetric (dimensional) weight is calculated from the dimensions of a package to reflect the space it occupies. Chargeable weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight — this is what carriers use to bill you. IMEXLOG provides both calculators.
Which Incoterms are included in the guide?▾
IMEXLOG's Incoterms Guide covers all 11 Incoterms 2020 — EXW, FCA, CPT, CIP, DAP, DPU, DDP, FAS, FOB, CFR, and CIF — with clear responsibilities for costs, risk, and logistics.
Can I use these tools for both imports and exports?▾
Yes. Every tool is designed to work for both import and export flows — including landed cost, import duty, export pricing, freight, and compliance tools.
Are the calculators accurate enough for real trade decisions?▾
The calculators use industry-standard formulas and are accurate for planning and preliminary quotes. For final contractual decisions, always confirm with your freight forwarder, customs broker, or IMEXLOG trade specialist, as rates and regulations change frequently.
Do the tools work on mobile?▾
Yes. All IMEXLOG Trade Tools are mobile-responsive and work on phones, tablets, and desktops. They are also integrated into the IMEXLOG mobile app.
How can I suggest a new trade tool?▾
We welcome suggestions. Contact us through the IMEXLOG platform or email support@imexlog.org with the tool you would like to see, and our team will review it.
