How freight pricing works

Freight pricing depends on the transport mode, route, shipment characteristics, carrier and service level.

Weight = Cargo weight
Volume = Cargo volume
Route = Origin → Destination
Live market data + shipment details → indicative freight estimate

The result should be used for planning. Final shipment pricing should be confirmed with the carrier or freight forwarder.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Freight Calculator work?▾

The IMEXLOG Freight Calculator uses your origin, destination, cargo weight, volume and transport mode to request an indicative freight estimate. Where live market data is available, the calculator displays the returned price range and transit estimate.

Are these actual freight rates?▾

The online result is an indicative freight estimate, not a binding carrier quotation. Final freight depends on carrier, sailing or flight date, cargo type, equipment, route, fuel charges, origin and destination charges, handling and other shipment conditions.

Does the calculator use live freight prices?▾

Yes. When the external freight-data provider returns a result for your route, IMEXLOG displays the returned indicative price range. If no live estimate is available, the calculator can fall back to internal planning rates.

What is the difference between weight and volume pricing?▾

Different transport modes use different rating methods. Air freight commonly uses actual or dimensional weight, while LCL sea freight is commonly related to cargo volume. The final carrier quotation determines the applicable rating basis.

Does this include customs duties and taxes?▾

No. Freight is only one part of the total import or export cost. Use the IMEXLOG Landed Cost Calculator and Import Cost Calculator for additional cost planning.

Can I request an actual freight quote?▾

Yes. After reviewing the indicative estimate, you can submit the shipment to the IMEXLOG Trade Desk for a formal logistics quotation.
